“Light The Way”

In one of the darkest times of my life
I realized that I was alone
So I searched within
For the source of light
For I intended to make it my own
Embracing fairness and honesty
I emerged from conflict
Weighted down with bags of bitterness
Feeling for the lamb
Left with the wolves in the wilderness
For us it is a slim chance
That we will ever see tomorrow
Knowing that it takes prayer and support to change a person
From sinful too sinless
Confronted by life’s pain
A rewarding but hurtful tenderness
Having experience and scars to gain
I began questioning myself
Living with fruits, nuts
And insensitive souls
One can easily be fooled
Into being a fool
In a world that fails
To measure up to the ruler
Can I unravel my spirit from the tangled souls
That clog the darkened roads we travel
Starring at the stars in the night
Wishing that I was like them
Specs of light
On a straight and narrow
